"TASTE OF BALI" SAFARI TOUR

A Taste Of Bali Dive Safari Tour provides the diver with an opportunity to take a few days to indulge in two of Bali's premiere dive locations. The package commences with the three hour drive North upto Tulamben. Whilst the first half of the journey is spent escaping Balis developed Southern region, the second half is a visual delight. Beautiful views of Mount Agung, Balis biggest Volcano capture the imagination, and Terteganga provides the opportunity to photograph Bali's famous rice field terraces yourself. Just ask the driver to stop for a quick photo session! As you travel through the villages in the North you will discover a more traditional Bali.

Once at Tulamben, nestled at the foot of Mount Agung you have the opportunity to dive sites renowned by world class photographers as offering spectacular underwater life. This truly is a location with something for everyone. A stony shore entry slopes down to around 12 metres then quickly drops away. This shallow ledge is teeming with life. Octopus, cuttlefish, mantis shrimps, blue ribbon eels, an abundance of reef fish are all easy to find here – making the site not only great for divers but accompanying non-divers can also experience some of the wonders on show. The USAT Liberty Shipwreck lies up against the slope and so again can be seen by snorkellers. However, as it drops away to 30 meters its true character can only be experienced by divers. The wreck is safe and easy to dive and shelters huge amounts of fish. Schools of circling Jacks provide a surreal image and spotted stingrays dot the dark sand slopes. The Drop-Off further along the stony beach provides an opportunity for deeper diving. The wall is covered with corals and sponges. Reef fish cling to the wall and larger fish such as humphead parrot fish patrol the site. Sharks are regular visitors to the area and can be seen cruising in the gentle currents.

An overnight at Tulamben provides the opportunity to explore these sights and an optional night dive on the shallow house reef is highly recommended. Your accommodation is on the shoreline – allowing you to make the most of your time there and avoid additional travel times.

On completion of your second dive at day two, the scuba dive safari tour returns to Southern Bali and Manta Ray Pictureovernight in Sanur, enabling an early start the next morning for the Islands of Nusa Lembongan, Ceningan and Nusa Penida. The area offers beautiful and sometimes exhilarating diving. Known for its diverse coral life and strong currents, it offers the diver the opportunity for drift diving. Mola Mola or Oceanic Sunfish visit these sites from as early as July through to around October. It is believed that these two metre giants come to the reef for cleaning. There is an opportunity to see Manta Rays at the south-west part of Nusa Penida, called Manta Point divesite.

"SAFARI ADVENTURE" TOUR

4 Days / 3 Nights Accommodation

8 Dives Including Tanks and Weights

Breakfast on days 2, 3 and 4 and Lunch on each day Nusa Island days

Mola Mola pictureThis four day Dive Safari Adventure Tour takes you North, away from the hustle and bustle of Bali's major tourist enclaves, back to a more traditional way of life.
After pick up from your accommodation we will drive up Balis East coast and take a local boat out to the dive sites. Dive sites on the East Coast are typically current swept sites on rocky outcrops with opportunities to see sharks and other pelagics. Mola Mola or Oceanic Sunfish also visit these sites from February through to around August/September & sometimes October. There are however more sheltered sites with beautiful soft and hard corals and marine life.

On completion of the second dive we will then drive further North. This journey is spent in the shadow of Mount Agung, Balis biggest volcano, and spectacular views together with Balis lush green rice terraces are a feature of this journey – have your camera ready!

We will spend two nights at Tulamben. Four day dives at this location offer an excellent opportunity to explore an area recently selected for an international marine photography competition. The potential to see tiny and unusual seacreatures such as ghostpipefish, harlequin shrimp and crabs, mantis shrimp, pygmy seahorses and many other rarities, together with the Liberty shipwreck and drop off ensure that this is one of Balis premiere dive locations.
The shipwreck lies from around 8 to 30 meters and has a good deal of soft coral and sponge growth. Large shoals of fish cling to the wreck and spotted stingrays lurk in the dark sand along its edges. The drop off brushed by the currents in the area provides a diverse habitat. Ledges, reef, rock walls and sand bottoms all provide habitat for the wealth of creatures you will find here.

The Tulamben area is also great for snorkellers as the stony shoreline slopes gently to around 12 metres and is teeming with marine life. Octopus, cuttlefish, blue ribbon eels are but a few of the highlights on this shallow reef. Furthermore the shallow areas of the Liberty shipwreck can be viewed by snorkellers although, of course, the wreck is best seen by the diver. Warm water, gentle currents an easy to dive and accessible shipwreck and the abundance of life in this location all combine to provide enormously enjoyable and relaxed dive experiences. An optional night dive on the housereef is highly recommended.

Honeycomb Moray Eel pictureOn the fourth day we will travel to West Bali, Menjangan. Diving in Menjangan is renowned for its vast array of marine life, from the small and unusual, to schools of jewel coloured reef fish, upto occasional sightings of large pelagics. Now a marine park, this area was once renowned as possessing the best diving in Bali. Since this time some damage to the reef has occurred but has not detracted from the abundance of marine life it supports. White sand bottoms and walls provide a stunning backdrop to the marine life. The sites here remain magnificent and are suitable for all levels of divers so relax and enjoy!

On completion of two boat dives in this location we will return you to your accommodation in Southern Bali.

Our tour heads west for our first diving destination – Menjangan. Here you can see an abundance of marine life, clouds of brightly coloured fish, unusual small creatures and the occasional large pelagic. A backdrop of dramatic walls and stunning white sand bottoms make this an ideal dive spot. This area was once renowned as possessing the best diving in Bali. Since this time some damage to the reef has occurred but has not detracted from the abundance of underwater life it supports. The sites here remain magnificent and are suitable for all levels of divers so relax and enjoy!

After a relaxing overnight stay at Pemuteran we then head to Tulamben, arguably Bali’s most diverse diving location. The stony beach continues under the water in a gentle shelf before meeting a dazzling house reef and dropping away into a steeper dark sand slope dotted with nudibranchs, anemones, and hiding treasures such as ghost pipefish. The liberty shipwreck lies up against this slope. It is easily visible to snorkellers with the top at around 8 metres but dropping to 30 metres, it is best experienced by the diver. The wreck is easy to dive and provides habitat to a large number of fish in addition to a base for soft corals. At the end of the bay a headland protrudes into the sea and provides a deep drop off. Corals and marine creatures cling to the rock face. The gorgonian fans are stunning. Larger marine creatures such as humphead parrotfish and sharks patrol the drop off and edge of the sand slope and the warm, tranquil waters provide ideal conditions for diving. We will devote two days to this location, allowing divers to experience each of the environments detailed and revisit their favourites! An optional night dive at Tulamben is highly recommended.

After the final dive on day three of our itinerary, we head back south to overnight in Sanur, ready for an early start the next morning to Nusa Lembongan, Ceningan and Penida to continue the diving safari.

Porcupine Fish pictureThis area is renowned for its currents, its diverse coral life (a completely new species was discovered in Lembongan Bay only a few years ago) and, in season, visiting Mola Mola or Oceanic Sunfish. The majority of dives in this location are drift dives varying in character from a gentle flow to an adrenaline rush depending upon the site and the tide. Sharks and other pelagics – such as large barracuda and mantas are often seen cruising lazily through these currents or just hanging in the water. Mola Mola can be seen from as early as February through to August and October – although one was once seen here on Christmas day! Although sightings of these creatures are breathtaking they are of course not guaranteed – what is guaranteed however is the stunning reef and profusion of fish life.

Two days diving with an overnight on the Island of Nusa Lembongan provides a great opportunity to visit some of the sites available as well as experience the peace and tranquillity of the location and the beautiful sunset over Bali.
